About our school

Avoca Beach Public School prides itself on providing opportunities for success for every student in a caring and safe environment. Our school motto "Ever to the Best" promotes excellence and we are committed to developing well educated, talented, resilient, tolerant and responsible students. Our school population of 460 students is supported by a Principal, four Assistant Principals and more than thirty-two teaching, support and office staff. We also have dedicated support teachers who assist students who are facing challenges with their learning.

Quality educational programs, with a strong academic focus on literacy, numeracy and information and communication technology, are delivered by our highly qualified and dedicated staff. Ongoing professional development ensures the application of current best practice to learning experiences and the alignment of our systems and policies support priority areas. Even though our students perform well in school and national assessment programs we continue to identify key areas for improvement by participating in a regular, extensive self-evaluation process.

The students at Avoca Beach Public School have many opportunities to be involved in extra-curricula activities including inter school sport, dance, public speaking, debating, robotics, chess, choir, band, drama and school musicals. With eighteen permanent and two demountable air-conditioned classrooms and a modern air-conditioned library, all with interactive whiteboards, and two specialist computer laboratories, our students enjoy fully integrated, up-to-date information and communication technology. Our video conferencing facilities allow students to engage in exciting new learning experiences beyond our school.

We are an active member of the Kincumba Learning Community, a group of outstanding schools that work together to deliver transition programs that ensure our students are settled, confident and ready to learn when they move to high school. The school has a strong partnership with the P&C which raises over $45000 each year to support educational programs. The P&C also provides an avenue for the whole school community to have input into school policy and decision making. Parents are actively involved in all areas of school life and work alongside school staff and the wider community to create a true community school.
