To support our positive student wellbeing programs and initiatives Avoca Beach Public School is implementing You Can Do It! This program focuses on social and emotional learning. Our current shark award system will recognise the 5 key foundations of: Getting Along, Resilience, Organisation, Persistence and Confidence. Students who receive 5 shark spots will receive a red shark award in class. Once 5 shark spots have been earned in one of the 5 foundations students will receive a 'key award' at an assembly. A silver shark award will be presented at a Friday assembly when they have achieved a 'key' across all 5 foundations. Students have already begun learning about each of these foundations and what they would look like inside and outside of the classroom. They are also identifying their personal strengths and their area for development.
