Teaching STEM
At Avoca Beach Public School we have been embracing this approach for many years, with a wide selection of robotic resources, including Lego Spike, Dash and Dot, Blue-Bot, Lego WeDo and EV3. Through STEM, students develop key skills to support them to succeed at schools and beyond including:
- critical thinking
- creativity
- problem-solving
- collaboration
- communication
- independent thinking
- initiative
- digital literacy
Lego Spike
Lego Spike is a learning tool that combines physical LEGO building (a resource many students are already familiar with) with digital coding to help them develop creativity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Dash and Dot
Dash is a robot that can drive, navigate, respond to voice, and be programmed to sing or dance. Dash lets students explore loops, events, conditions and sequences while seeing how their program runs in real life!
Lego WeDo
Students learn STEM through real-world, hands-on projects. Lego WeDo uses blocks to program motorised lego models with sensors, making it an accessible way for students to build, program, and test their creations.
